My family and I don't go out to dinner often, mostly if we are celebrating something. The restaurant of choice was a favourite of my older sister's, Tarantino Italian restaurant. I don't know if they are family run, but it had that vibe about it which made it feel more inviting.
BRUSCHETTA ALLA TARANTINA
Chopped fresh Tomatoes, Garlic, Onions, Olives Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Basil & Oregano served on our Herb & Olive Toasted Italian Bread.
I hate raw tomatoes but a couples years back I discovered my love of Bruschetta, it's just so fresh and makes a great starter. Come on, you can't go wrong with balsamic vinegar.
CANNELLONI
Pancakes filled with Ricotta & Spinach.
Cannelloni is probably one of my favourite Italian dishes, but only the spinach and ricotta version. Admittedly I have never tried beef cannelloni. Unfortunately for me this cannelloni was not as nice as others I am used to, it wasn't as creamy and cheesy as I am used to.
For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this dessert, and I can't find the name of it on their website. It was basically ice cream and cake covered in a hard shell of chocolate and nuts. Served on top of whipped cream with chocolate sauce. It was so hard to get into at one point it almost flew off of my plate haha. But it was very tasty and wasn't heavy, perfect way to end a meal.
We visited the Tarantino branch in Hornchurch. The staff were super friendly, always checking to see if we were enjoying our meal and joking around with us. I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to my next visit.
