COPYCAT MAKEUP: Kendall Jenner

Hey guys and dolls,

I love when I can look at someones make up and be completely inspired. Scrolling through Instagram I came across this image of Kendall Jenner. Her make up was so simple yet she looked absolutely gorgeous. And I just had to recreate it. I posted my take on the look on my Instagram page. Now I am gonna show you what I used to do it.

Luckily I had some random gems in my make up kit, that were perfect for the look. And the same colour. I used them previously in my Carnival look.

Keep reading to find out how I recreated this look.

Recent Avon Purchases

Hey guys and dolls,

Before you say it yes I know, I love Avon. But they are a really good brand and have prices you can't exactly scoff at. I've been curbing my spending lately and haven't been buying from them much.  But here are some things I've gotten in recent months.

Makeup Monday: Sleek Makeup Haul

Hey guys and dolls,

It's been a hot minute since I last purchased from Sleek. There was a time when I was buying from them practically every week.

Make up Monday: Katy Perry Dark Horse (look 2)

Hey guys and dolls,

Here is the second look inspired by Katy Perry's Dark Horse music video. I loved the whole Egyptian theme throughout the video, and the make up looks were just gorgeous. This has to be my favourite out of the 2 looks I've done. You can see the first look I did here.

Make up Monday: Katy Perry Dark Horse (look 1)

Hey guys and dolls,

I fell in love with the song 'Dark Horse' from the moment I heard it and was so excited when Katy Perry released the video for it. As you could imagine the moment I watched the video my MUA antennas went up and I just had to recreate the looks.

So here is my take on one of the looks from the video.

FOTD - Family BBQ

Hey dolls,

First post of September...woooo :)

Last night an old family friend was celebrating his birthday with a BBQ. Good vibes, music, people and the most bomb jerk chicken.

I love any excuse to get dolled up and do my make up. Even if it's just a family function. I've gotten a bit lazy and less adventurous with my make up these days and this has been my go to make up look.

So here is what I used on my face.

 My everyday make up items.

 Base make up
FIX+
Mac studio fix powder - NW50
Sleek blusher in Flushed

 Avon eyeshadow primer

 Sleek Au Naturel palette
Toast - all over the lid
 Bark - the outer corner
Nougat - inner corner highlight
(Not pictured) MAC Shroom - brow highlight

Avon:
Spectra Lash mascara
Supershock black gel pencil
Supershock gel liner pot
I switched out MAC blacktrack fluid line for Avon Supershock gel liner in Shimmering Sapphire. Felt like using a pop of colour.

 Make up brushes
A mix of Inglot, MAC, Avon and a few randoms.

 Rimmel apocalips - Big Bang

The look

Been rocking the fro a lot lately. But its being retired for the foreseeable future. Too much maintenance.

Keep an eye out for my august favourites coming in the next few days.

Sleek Snapshots palette

Hey dolls,

The purchase of this palette was one of the biggest fails ever lol. Scroll past the lovely pics and swatches to find out why...

 Snapshots
£8

 Top Row L-R:
Summer Breeze, Martini, Kiwi Flower, Lotus Flower, Humming Bird, Tequila Sunrise

Bottom Row L-R:
Sand Walker, Washed Ashore, Sunset, Green Iguana, Purple Haze, Magenta Madness

OK So I'm angry. Not because there is anything wrong with the palette but because I spent £8 on 12 eyeshadows I already own. Each of these shadows are re-releases of eyeshadows from 2 limited edition palettes. I was not aware that sleek were re-releasing a palette of limited edition shades, it never said that on the website. But its only as I was swatching the palette and looking at the names, I kept having a sense of déjà vu. So I looked over some of my older sleek posts to come to the shocking conclusion that I owned ALL of these eyedahdows. FAIL!

My local Tesco now has a Sleek counter...YAY! Which is where I discovered that the Sleek palettes had gone up in price, only by a mere £1.51 but I paid more for something I already own, UGH!

This palette works out great for people who missed out on the Caribbean and Mediterranean collections. You can see below which shadows were from which LE palette accompanied by a link to take you to the post on said palettes.

Monaco palette:
Summer Breeze
Kiwi Flower - also known as 'Kiwi Zest'
Lotus Flower
Humming Bird
Sand Walker
Washed Ashore
Sunset
Magenta Madness

Curacao palette:
Martini
Tequila Sunrise
Green Iguana
Purple Haze

The only difereence between the palettes is that they no longer have the old crosshatch pattern and one of the shadows had a name change.

In conclusion the Snapshots palette is a good palette, the colours and quality live up to sleeks usual standards and is great for those who never got to try the previously mentioned LE palettes.

And always rememeber to make sure you check your make up inventory before you go out to buy more products lol.

How to: Clean your make up brushes

Hey dolls,

Happy Saturday everyone...

We all know that time when it comes to the old boring task of cleaning our makeup brushes. I feel about cleaning my brushes like I do about washing up dishes (which I cant stand). Its really important to clean your brushes as they have bacteria on them that can cause spots.

We all have different ways to do it. Here is how I clean my brushes.

Spot cleaning
This just is just a quick fix to give your brushes a quick cleanse. You should really deep cleanse them once a week (which I will go into). I have to admit sometimes I'm guilty of not following through with this with my own personal make up brushes. Especially as I have loads of my professional brushes to clean I kinda let my personal ones fall at the waistline, I know I'm terrible, but its fine as I'm the only one using them.

MAC Brush cleanser
If you're a make up lover you know about this brush cleanser. This was the first and ONLY brush cleanser I've ever used. I have others I just have never bothered to use them cos I'm really happy with this one.

What you need:
  • Brush cleanser
  • Towel
  • And of course your brushes :)
How to do it:
I squeeze some of the cleanser onto my brush or I pour some f the cleaner into the lid and dip my brushes in. Then I proceed to wipe the brush backwards and forwards and in circular motions onto a towel. Be sure to use an old towel (NOT one of your mum's good ones haha). If its a really dirty brush just repeat the steps. Once its clean reshape the brush and lay it on its side to dry, it shouldn't take long.

Deep cleansing
Is a way of thoroughly cleansing your brushes. Spot cleaning is like using a dry shampoo and deep cleansing is like how you wash your hair once a week with shampoo.

Mild or baby shampoo:
I use baby shampoo to deep clean my brushes, I got this cheap one from Tesco and its worked fine for me over the years. Sometimes if I have a really stubborn colour I will spot clean my brush in some olive oil then go ahead and shampoo it. I found that has made my brushes really soft.

What you need:
  • Shampoo
  • Olive oil (for the tougher stains)
  • Towel
  • Brushes ;-)
How to do it:
Dampen your brush with some water, I use warm water when I wash mine. Squeeze some shampoo into the palm of your hands and then start swirling the brush around and getting the shampoo between the bristles. Then holding the brush upside down, rinse out the shampoo. Like your hair sometimes you'll need to rinse and repeat, depending on how dirty your brush is.

Its important when washing you brushes to make sure that you don't get any water on the handle or in the ferrule of the brush. The ferrule is the part of the brush beneath the bristles, its the part that holds the brush fibres in the handle. If water gets in there it will damage the brush fibres and melt the glue holing them in place and make your brush moult.

Hopefully this was helpful to some of you.

What are some of your favourite brush cleansers?

ColorTrend Valentine's lipstick

Hey dolls,

Now I know its waaaaaaay passed Valentine's day but these lipsticks are still available, so yeah...

My love for AVON ColorTrend lipsticks is growing...I think 99% of the time when I do my make up I wear Rich Ruby lipstick which you can see here.

Last year ColorTrend lipstick packaging changed which I was very excited about, now no offence to Avon but I thought the older packaging (which you can see here) was a little tacky looking. But I m happy with the new packaging.

£3.75
They had a seriously good deal on, Buy 1 get 2 free.

Valentine's Day packaging
I really liked that they put the hearts on the packaging, I was like "So cute" haha.

The colours I got in the deal were Heartbeat Red, Hot Pink Love and Flirt.

 Heartbeat Red
LIMITED EDITION
Glittery ruby red with gold flecks of glitter.

 Hot Pink Love
LIMITED EDITION
Bright frosty almost bubble gum pink with gold flecks.

Now this pink is a little too bright/light for me but I'm gonna work with it by adding a darker pink/purple lip liner and gloss.

 Flirt
A fleshy coral-y peach.

This is not one of the Valentine's day lipstick although with the name you'd think otherwise. I wasn't feeling all the LE shades so opted for this one, trying to shy away from usual colour choices.

L-R: Heartbeat Read, Hot Pink Love, Flirt

So like I said, I'm really loving these lipsticks and would advise you all to go try at least one shade. They're reasonably priced, good colour pay off and don't dry out the lips.

The limited edition shaded are still available.

Rimmel mini haul

 Hey dolls,

A couple weeks ago I was watching one of Estée's (Essie Button) videos, and she used one of the apocalips lip lacquers from Rimmel. I'd heard about them before but wasn't sure about them until I saw her put one on and I was like, "I need to buy these". I popped into tesco to do the weekly shop (as you do) and remembered they had a rimmel stand there. And they had a 3 for 2 deal going on (happy days). Their stock was pretty low that I only managed to get 2 of the colours I wanted, so I picked up a mascara (you can never have too many mascaras).

 SCANDALEYES mascara
 £7

I'm not gonna lie I wasn't impressed with this mascara when I first tried it on. I was really expecting my lashes to POP! And I couldn't really tell that I was wearing anything. But I don't give up that easy lol, I'm gonna work with this product.

ps I love the brush, its MASSIVE and I'm all about that.

APOCALIPS lip lacquer
 £6 each

This product reminds me of paint. Its so pigmented its unreal. You only need a tiny amount to fully cover your lips, kinda like the OCC lip tars.

Its longevity is really good even after eating and drinking.

If you use too much it kinda bleeds, and smudges outside of the lip line, so less is definitely more with these.

My only problem with this product is that it smells like watermelon, like really artificial watermelon and I'm not a massive watermelon fan (how many times can I say watermelon? haha), that's the main downside. Other than that its a fantastic product.

 Apocaliptic
Deep Hot Pink

 Stellar
Coral-y pink shade

L:Apocaliptic
R: Stellar

Sleek Blush by 3

Hi my lovelies,

So I have really been out of the make up scene as late, like I said in my previous Avon haul I have only been buying from Avon because it is at my disposal.

I was watching Jennie's latest haul video on her youtube channel beautybyjj, and she mentioned how she had bought these new limited edition blushes from sleek. As I was out on Tuesday I thought I'd head into my town centre and check out the new blushes. There are 5 sets full of beautiful colours suitable for all skin tones. Some of the sets had one or two blushes that I could wear but then there'd be one or two blushes in a set that I wouldn't be able to use. So I settled for the one I'm really disappointed that these are limited edition cos these are really great and good value for money. Unfortunately for those outside of the UK you cant buy these blushes online, they're only available in Superdrug.

I got the set in PINK SPRINT, as you can tell from the name its all pink based blushes, which are all suitable for my skin tone :) These blush sets retail at £9.99

Left to right: Pink Parfait, Pink Ice, Pinktini
Theses blushes are all a matte finish, which I really like cos I'm not a huge fan of shimmery blush. These colours are highly pigmented and the colours are buildable/blendable.

Top to bottom: Pink Parfait, Pink Ice, Pinktini

If any of you have bought any of theses sets link me to your posts :)

Superdrug Mini Haul

Hello loves,

So I dunno if you remember from my birthday haul, I got a Superdrug giftcard from my bestie Leanne. As I was going into my town centre to collect my Sleek package I thought I might as well go spend it cos Superdrug was like literally 30seconds away. I picked up a few items....

I got cotton wool haha on a deal 2 for £2.49 (not really interesting but it was an essential item)
Make Up Academy (MUA) Matte eyeshadow Shade 17 - £1
This is a nice matte flesh toned eyeshadow that I use as a brow highlight.

Make Up Academy (MUA) Matte eyeshadow Shade 18 - £1
When I saw this in the shop and swatched it I thought it was quite pigmented but when I actually used it on the eye it didn't come out well at all. I might try and use this wet and see if it comes up more vibrant.

Make Up Academy (MUA) Lip gloss Shade 3 - £1
A gorgeous sheer pink lipgloss. I wore this the other day and it was so nice and lasted quite a while until I had something to eat and drink haha. Really nice purchase very happy with it.

I think I might purchase some more MUA products. They're really cheap and the quality ain't too bad. I think next time I pick an eyeshadow I will be more careful haha when I check the pigmentation. But do you know what as much as the purple didn't come out as expected you cant scoff at the quality and prices of theses items.

Limited edition nail effect - Lilac Foil - £3.99
If you spend £6 on Barry M you get this free but there wasn't really anything I needed from Barry M at the moment. So I thought  I might as well just get the polish on its own.
