As a plus size woman I have been subject to a lot of unsolicited "advice". Sometimes things said to me come from a "good place", but some are just general douchey comments. Either way being fat is not grounds for family/friends or trolls to hand out unwanted commentary. I'm gonna share with you guys some of the annoying things I've been told.

I want to tackle some things people assume about fat people before getting to know us. Just because you think you know something, doesn’t make it true.

YOURS - Plus Size Fashion Haul

I love Yours, they are one of my favourite places to buy plus size fashion items from. They are trendy clothes and not overly priced.

If you follow me on twitter (@sonyalovesmkeup) you would’ve seen me tweeting a lot about how much money I’d been spending at Yours Clothing. I basically was hitting up my local store every Saturday for like a month or so. Which is a little bizarre for me as I am not much of a big spender...well not for clothes anyway.

This post should have been up ages ago. As a blogger sometimes you need to rely on others to help you take shots of your hauls or OOTD's. Well I finally got someone(s) (my sister and best friend) to take my photos for me, so now I can share with you the items I got.

FAT! UNDESIREABLE! UNATTRACTIVE! MORBIDLY OBESE! ASHAMED! UNWANTED! UNLOVED! SUB HUMAN! JUDGED! UNWORTHY! IRRELEVANT! UGLY! OBESE! HIDEOUS! DON’T DESERVE TO BE ALIVE! WASTE OF SPACE!

These are sadly words I’ve used to describe myself or how I have been made to feel. Some of the words are facts, I am obese but that isn’t all that I am. But the derogatory terms are how people and the media have made me feel. And it’s not right. I am much more than my size.

I have never felt prouder of the plus sized community than I have in the last few months. And I wanted to properly introduce myself and share my story with everyone. I have been working on this post for several months, tweaking and adding bits to it but never felt it was the right time to post. But with everything that has been going on in the blogging world, on social media, youtube and the actual media regarding the plus sized community there has never been a better time to share this.

Body Positivity and Weight Loss

It has been going off on twitter the past couple days.

I feel like as a member of the plus size community I don't speak up enough on issues that we face, but I am trying to change that. And this topic really hit home for me, so I wanted to take to the blog and put my two cents in.

Today's topic is, "Can you be body positive and lose weight at the same time?"

I see all the time in the plus size community people saying that you can't be body positive and lose weight. I am now gonna weigh in on this heavily discussed and debated topic that has caused some good and not so good opinions. This post isn't me calling anybody out or judging anyone for how they think and feel. This is just my personal opinion on the subject.

FASHION | ASOS CURVE WISHLIST #1

Recently I heard that ASOS Curve went up a size in their range. It now offers a size 28, happy days for the curvier ladies. It's only gone up one size, but I have to give them credit for at least increasing the size. I assumed the curve range only went up to the usual "plus size" sizes of 16/18, but was happily proven wrong.

So I decided to have a look at what the range had to offer. Here are some items that caught my eye, it's a bit monochrome but I was just having a quick glance.

Here are some bits I have gotten over the last couple months, in preparation for the warmer weather. If you live in London, you'll know it has been pretty lovely, a bit muggy but bright.I purchased these items from plus size retailer Evans. I think the majority of my clothes come from there. When shopping at Evans I tend to only shop online, because there is more variety and more chances of getting the items I want. My local Evans always runs out of my size really quickly. And doing it online means I can get it delivered to my door and have the option to get a discount. So continue on reading to see what I got.

WOW! My blog turned 4 yesterday. It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

My blog was something that I started randomly. My friend Stevie (one half of the velvet epidemic) was actually the reason I started blogging. I'd wanted to start a blog for a while, but just never did it. Stevie had started up a blog of her own and gave me the confidence to go for it. So this blog started as a place for me to share my passion for make up. It has since become somewhere for me to share a whole lot more. It's a very big part of my life that I love very much.

I fell in love with these jumpers the moment I laid eyes on them. They are so my style and I just had to have them. They cost more than what I'd usually pay for a jumper but once in a while you might as well #treatyoself lol.

A while ago I was so excited to discover that Very do plus size clothes...this will be the death of me...financially that is lol. I always assumed they were like a lot of online stores that only did clothes suitable for the smaller frame. They have quite few nice bits on there so there will hopefully be more clothes hauls in the future. I may even start doing OOTDs, something I've always wanted to do but always been a bit wary of.

Last Tuesday I trotted down to Tower Hill to Mary Jane's bar for the launch of my friend Gemma's fabulous fashion line "Gemma Cruickshank Collexions".

Now if you don't know who Gemma Cruickshank is then let me tell you.

Gemma is a fashion graduate and was crowned Miss BBW 2012 and since then has been a forced to be reckoned with. She is one of the most driven women I've met and she goes after what she wants no matter what. She has a larger than life personality and serious determination and that's what I admire about her.
