I am gonna try to get my words/message out as best I can, but I am so angry/sad as I write this.
Wednesday morning I woke up to hear of what tragically happened to Alton Sterling. I was disgusted, saddened and had a heavy heart. So why is it that this man's life was taken but all people want to do is justify the actions of his murderers? His criminal history had nothing to do with them taking his life. He was selling CDs and was unarmed.
It's open season on black lives and something needs to be done. |
And not 24 hours later did I hear about Philando Castile, who was pulled over for a "busted taillight". They killed him in front of his girl and his daughter (while complying with the police). WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?!?!?! They will forever be traumatised by this. He was a good man...NO MUGSHOTS HERE!
Then this morning after I woke up to hear about the police being shot up in Dallas, at a Black Lives Matter rally. In my opinion, I feel this was created as a distraction and to incite civil unrest.
With all this going on, you then get the ignorant buttholes coming out of the woodwork with the "All Lives Matter" BS. Saying All Lives Matter when someone brings up Black Lives Matter, is like going to an event for Cancer and shouting "yeah but what about other diseases?". No one is saying all lives don't matter, but right now black lives matter as we are being wrongfully targeted and executed. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, All Lives Matter will become a thing when we are ALL EQUAL! Until then GTFOH with that nonsense.
Do you know what it feels like to be a black person on a daily basis? People with privilege get to wake up and deal with day to day stress. As black people we have to deal with that and all this other shit. We are profiled. We get lesser wages. We have to put up with borderline racist comments from co-workers, and have to not react how we really would like to cos we don't wanna seem like the angry black person in the office. We have to watch our backs walking down the street. We get looked at funnily. Before we open our mouths we are a judged. Walking into a shop and being watched like a damn hawk or even followed around. People clutching at their handbags/purses when we walk by. And so much more. All of this because of the colour of our skin? DAFUQ?!?!?!
Outside of all this death and hatred, I am so disappointed in the people with the ability to speak on these issues and get people thinking, people with a platform. The amount of celebrities and influencers I've seen tweeting the most irrelevant shit at this time is infuriating. You're clearly online and everyone is talking about what's happening, but you still wanna sit there and put your head in the sand. Like I said on my twitter page, you ain't an ostrich, so don't play like one. Don't be witnessing all this injustice going down and then continue to talk about holidays, lipsticks, clothing hauls and the like.

If you're concerned to speak on the issues that the black community are facing, because you may affect you brand or lose your followers...think. The people that are willing to unfollow you because of that, do you really want those ignorant and hateful people following you and supporting your online career? I know I wouldn't. It's good to know money is more important to you, than people losing their lives.
Use your voice and speak up, now is not the time to stay silent.
"If you remain silent/neutral in situations of injustice, you are choosing the side of the oppressor."

And to those that have used their platform and not just done some half arsed retweets...THANK YOU!

My heart is heavy. I'm angry. I'm upset. I'm afraid for my black brothers and sisters.
THIS SHIT NEEDS TO STOP! STOP KILLING MY PEOPLE! WE ARE NOT IRRELEVANT OR EXPENDABLE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
