August Favourites 2013

Hey dolls,

Back again with another post on my favourites of the month. I'm actually getting this one up relatively on time.

There isn't much make up in my favourites this month. But there were 2 things that I have really been liking and thought bared mentioning.

MAKE UP

Avon Eye shadow primer - light beige
I love this primer, its a really good base for eyeshadow.

Avon Supershock gel liner - Shimmering Sapphire
I've been loving adding a pop of colour to my everyday smokey eye.

SKIN CARE

Skin So Soft Body Butter - Original
I posted about this last week and I LOVE this body butter. I got 3 of these and I'm already onto the second one.

Planet Spa - Mediterranean Olive Oil with Orange Flower body scrub
This is a really great body scrub. It smells like bubblegum and isn't abrasive on the skin. As a sufferer of dry skin I do a boy scrub regularly and I have noticed a difference in my skin.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream*

REPAIRS, NOURISHES AND PROTECTS

I've been using this hand cream a lot recently and I love it. Although I'm using a lot I'm using it sparingly because I don't want it to run out too quickly. But luckily you don't need too much.

Crème Fraîche de Beauté Normal sensitive skins*

QUENCHES, SOFTENS
My Garnier moisture match ran out and I decide to use this instead of purchasing another one. It's such a good moisturiser but the only thing I don't like is the smell. Its a bit overwhelming.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-Up remover
This is such a good eye make up remover. I used to avoid oil based removers but this gets my make up of in pretty much one swoop. It's taken the place of my Simple eye make up remover for the foreseeable future.

NAILS

Pastel nail polish
I've been all about pastel nail polishes this month, dunno if it's because of the weather and I wanted to feel all summery.

HAIR
I always used to take how strong my hair was for granted, but recently my hair has become less resilient and it started to break. So for that reason I've been going balls to the wall to take extra care of it. For example its been really dry so I haven't been using heat on it, letting it air dry and not using hair straighteners.

Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer - intensive treatment
I've been rocking my 'fro and using this on my scalp and ends of my hair. It's also like a curl activator and keeps my 'fro extra curly.

TRESemme Naturals shampoo and conditioner
This is to aid my hair getting back to its normal healthy state. I'm all about using the least chemicals in my hair.

"You don’t have to sacrifice beautiful style when choosing a natural hair care line. Formulated with organic ingredients: aloe vera, sweet orange, and avocado. These products with naturally derived polymers will leave your hair healthier, shinier, stronger, and looking naturally gorgeous." -TRESemme website

RANDOM

I love this bear, he is super soft and so cute. His name is Barney.
I think I bought him maybe a month or two ago from Avon. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but I love cuddly toys and bears, I have quite a collection that I've had since I was a child, and just kept adding to as I grew up. But if I see a cute soft bear I will most likely pick it up and buy it.

What were some of your favourite things in August?

AVON C2 Haul

Hey dolls,
Campaign 2

SuperSHOCK liner
£2.99

Flash
I got this one because I wanted to try that whole using a lighter colour on the water line to make the eyes pop but its too frosty and too light for me. The good thing about being a make up artist is when I don't like a product I purchase I'll just add it to my kit.

Aqua Pop
Love this. Such a lovely blue, I used this on my waterline when I wore a smokey eye, it just gave it that tiny pop of colour but no too in your face. I love these eyeliners. I'm forever repurchasing it in black. Great for the waterline or the upper lash line. And they last for AGES.

SuperShock Lip Shine
These are currently my FAVOURITE lip glosses. I repurchased Ravishing Rose and thought I'd try pink indulgence, its a bit too pink for me, I might try and mix it with a lipstick or another gloss and if that doesn't work it will go in my professional make up kit.

Ravishing Rose
My favourite things about these glosses is their thickness, opacity, colour pay off and most importantly the applicator.

Pink Indulgence

L: Pink Indulgence
R: Ravishing Rose

Eyeshadow Primer
£3.99
I bought this because I've been looking for a new primer. I used to use MACs prep and prime religiously. Then I switched to AVON's superSHOCK eyeshadow pencil as they come in loads of different colours. I'm really happy with it, Every time I've worn make up I've used this and my eyeshadow has lasted all night. And for the price it is you cant go wrong.

AVON Care

Protecting lip balm (spf15) - £2.20
I'm always trying out lip balms for when I do my face routine, I saw this and it was going quite cheap so I thought I'd pic k it up and give it a go. I like it, its thick but not too thick and very moisturising.
Glycerine hand and nail cream - £3.50
If you've followed my blog for a while you'd know I swear by these hand creams. I have a stock pile of these on my beauty cabinet. And I always have one in my handbag. Its very moisturising. Great product, one of my staples.

If you couldn't tell from the packaging these are rose scented. Now I'm not the biggest rose fan but if a product is good enough I will put that to one side.

Disclaimer: I know I post ALOT about Avon but that's because I love their products and have access to catalogues all the time (cos I'm a representative). Its also due to laziness I can shop for make up from the comfort of my own home and not have to pay for it upfront until the order comes through. But I have a few posts coming up that are not Avon related and I'm gonna make more of an effort to shop on the high street. Not just because of my blog but because I need to switch it up a little.

Sleek Palette Review - Good Girl, Bad Girl and NEW Primer palette

Finally, after I don't know how many months I am finally blogging about the limited edition Sleek Good Girl and Bad Girl palettes that came out last year. Again I cant begin to apologise on the fail that is my blogposts, college work has been kicking my ass and soaking up all my free time, which meant i had to put my blog on the back burner. Along side these palettes I am also reviewing the new Primer palette I purchased on Saturday from Superdrug.
Good Girl:

When I first saw this palette I was like, meh these wont work on my skin tone, but when I swatched them I was proven very wrong. They are gorgeous, the colours range from pink to coral to a red wine kind of colour. It is so lovely and I'm so pleased that I got this. This and the Bad girl palette were a birthday present from my sister. Like all Sleek palettes the colours are very pigmented and vibrant and apply soooooo nicely. So if you love pinks, or wanna be a human barbie doll this is the palette for you :D

I give this palette a 5 out of 5

Colours: Top left to right: Lychee, Meringue, Candy Floss, Lollipop, Pink Punch, CupcakeBottom left to right: Strawberry Sorbet, Pink Grapefruit, Peach Melba, Papaya, Raspberry Coulis, Morello

Bad Girl:

If you are looking to create dark or smokey/smoky eyes this palette is right up your street. It has wonderfully dark colours, and will definitely bring out the bad girl in you hahaha (sorry I had to haha). Again this palette is gorgeous, colours are very pigmented and apply well and I'm glad my sister got me these (at my request for my birthday). The only thing I would complain about is that the colour Obnoxious is a bit crumbly and even after tapping away the excess still has quite a bit of fall down :( but its still so pretty on the eyes. This palette is still available for purchase.

From the website:

"I Divine is a highly pigmented, soft touch eye shadow palette that possesses 12 pearlescent or matte shades. The pearlescent shades possess a large amount of mica and reflect the light giving a shimmering effect to the eye. The colour viewed in the palette is the colour that will be applied to the eye, as the payoff is excellent and the formulation is long lasting.

Bad girl contains strong and deep shades which allow one to uncover their hidden fantasies. This palette can be extreme, powerful, confident as well as sensual. "

I give this palette a 4 out of 5

Colours:
Top left to right: Innocence, Gullible, Blade, Gun Metal, Underground, NoirBottom left to right: Intoxicated, Envy, Obnoxious, Abyss, Twilight, Rebel

Primer:

I bought this palette last Saturday and I haven't had time to really play around with it, but while swatching it I found that I really like these, and feel like these are going to come in handy as primers. But as a first impression I like them, they are sooooo creamy :) You can purchase this palette here.
From the website:
"A palette of 12 coloured eye primers perfectly designed to use with all Sleek MakeUP i-DIVINE Palettes. Long-lasting and specially designed to breath a new lease of life into your eyeshadows."

So sleek seems to be naming their products now and the slide in little plastic thing that sits on the eyeshadows with the names on was incorrectly printed so I don't know if it was just my palette or a botched batch (say that two times fast hahah) so I kinda guessed which name actually went with which colour.

Colours:
Top left to right: Moonshine, Calypso, Ultra Violet, Dare Devil, Pink Frost, Silver LiningBottom left to right: Noir, Money Honey, Money Tree, Truffle, Hot Wired, Peach

This palette cost £6.99

and for first impression I give it a 4 out of 5.

If after using this consistently my mind changes I will let you know, But I'm am slowly dwindling, not even sure if this post makes sense, but I'm just too tired so yeah. I am gonna go and fall into a deep sleep my lovelies :D

I hope you enjoyed this post. I shall be back tomorrow with a post on the skincare products I purchased and some new skincare finds :) Until then ta ta.

Nighty night.

xxx
